RELEASED: Gilad Shalit Returns To His Family

An 11-year old boy, a young Israeli, called Gilad Shalit wrote a book "When the Shark and the Fish First Met", telling the story of two enemies that realise that it is better to co-exist in peace than to devour one another, defying their parents' prejudice. Eight years later, Sgt Shalit was seized by Hamas militants who tunnelled into Israel. He was kept captive in Gaza for over 5 years. Early on Tuesday, Shalit returned to Israel as part of a prisoner exchange deal and was reunited with his family.

An entire nation, religion and people waited nearly 2000 days for this moment - Gilad's release. Shalit spent five years regarded as the son and brother of every Jewish family, so personal and touching was his story, now he can return to being the son of Noam and Aviva Shalit in his quiet hometown of Mizpe Hila.
